It keeps the score. Your bank moves the money.
Dimesum is a free app for splitting shared expenses. Your group records who paid for what: the flat's internet bill, the ramen night, the taxi across town. Dimesum keeps every balance in the currency it happened in and works out the fewest transfers that square everyone. It never holds money. You pay each other in the app you already use, then record it here.
Say it in a line
Type coffee 12 with Lucas and a bill is drafted for you to check. Nothing posts on its own. Receipt reading is next: attach one and the lines will come off it.
Split the way it happened
Equally, by exact amounts, by weight, or line by line when only two of you ate the expensive dish. Tax and tip follow what each person ordered, never the headcount.
Settle in fewer transfers
Balances net per currency, so five people square up in four transfers at most. You record the payment, they confirm it, and both of you keep the same history.
Three steps, and nobody opens a calculator
Record what was spent, in whatever currency it happened. The shares come from the bill itself. Settle whenever the table is ready.
Record the expense
Dinner, rent, the taxi nobody remembers taking. Split it equally, by exact amounts, by weights, or line by line.
The shares work themselves out
Totals come from the lines. Tax and tip follow what each person ate, never the headcount, so whoever ordered nothing pays nothing extra.
Settle up, once
Balances net per currency. You pay in your own app and record it here, and your friend confirms. If nobody objects for 48 hours, it counts as settled.
One trip, four currencies, no invented rate
A yen dinner stays in yen. Your balances at home don't move until you do, and nobody's share is rounded through a rate they never agreed to. A group can still choose to read everything folded into one currency, at rates it agrees on.
| Bill | Paid by | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Ramen at Ichiran split 4 ways | Mei | ¥5,250 |
| Louvre tickets Sofia and Lucas only | Sofia | €54.00 |
| Seoul taxi split 4 ways | Lucas | ₩24,500 |
| Rent, September repeats monthly · by room | Jonas | $2,400 |
One bill, one link, no app needed to take a seat
Split a cab or a dinner with people who don't have Dimesum. The link, or its QR code at the table, holds one bill and a seat with their name on it. Taking the seat is one tap in the browser. You see who has paid and what is still out there.
Who sits here?
Offer a seat to someone you've split with before, to a contact who already has the app, or just name the seat and hand over the link. Nobody is put at a table without saying yes.
Your money never passes through us
Dimesum never holds your money. Each person picks how they like to be paid, and settling opens that door: a UPI app, a PayNow or Pix code, a PayPal or Venmo link, or plain bank details. The payment is recorded and confirmed here.
Because it is one
✓Itemised bills
"Split equally, except the one dish two of us ate" is one screen, not a negotiation.
✓Weighted splits
Unequal rooms or a 60/40 couple: set the weights once and every rent posts by them.
✓Repeats
Rent posts itself on the day, split the way you set it.
✓Balances per currency
Money is counted in whole units of the smallest coin, kept per currency. Converting is a reading choice, never a posting.
✓Edits with receipts
A fix restates the whole split. The ledger keeps the original and the correction, and the bill shows its history.
✓Settle up, agreed
A payment is recorded when you say so and settled when they confirm, or when 48 quiet hours pass.

Questions people ask first
What is Dimesum?
A free app for splitting shared expenses. Your group records who paid for what, Dimesum keeps every balance per currency, and it works out the fewest transfers that square everyone. It never holds money.
Does Dimesum move my money?
No. Dimesum keeps the score; your bank moves the money. When you pay a friend back you record it, they confirm it, and the balance goes to zero.
What if someone doesn't have the app?
Send them a quick split link or show its QR code. It holds one bill and a seat with their name on it. Taking the seat is one tap in the browser, with no download and no account.
Can I fix a mistake in an old expense?
Yes. An edit restates the whole split, so a typo fix can never quietly pull in someone who joined later. The ledger keeps both versions and every bill shows its history.
We used four currencies on one trip. What happens?
Each currency keeps its own balance. A group can also choose to show everything converted into one currency at rates it agrees on. That view is for reading; payments still settle each currency on its own.
How do I pay someone back?
From their balance. Dimesum opens the door they chose: their payment app, a PayNow or Pix code, a PayPal or Venmo link, or bank details. You record the payment and they confirm it. If nobody objects for 48 hours, it counts as settled.
Is my data sold or used for ads?
No. There is no ad tech and no data sale. Phone numbers and emails in a bill you type are masked before any model reads it, and you can delete your account from inside the app.
What does it cost?
The ledger is free: groups, bills, balances and settling up. Paid extras aren't decided yet, and nothing that is free today will move behind them.
